Колумб совершил много путешествий к Новому Свету. Он открыл много островов Центральной Америки. Испания была очень заинтересована в этой земле и территории и имела некоторые колонии в южных областях Центральной Америки и на юге Северной Америки тоже. Второе огромное путешествие Христофора Колумба началось в сентябре 1493. С ним прибыло еще 17 кораблей. В этом путешествии он достиг Кубы, но он не знал, что это остров. Колумб совершил 4 поездки в Новый Свет, но он никогда не находился на главном острове Северной Америки.
Англия тоже заинтересоалась Новым Светом. Первые английские колонии появились в Америке в начале 17 века. 21 сентября 1620 года группа людей покинула Англию и отправилась в Новый Свет. Они отплыли из порта Плимут на борту корабля Mayflower (Майский Цветок). Они хотели начать новую жизнь и не иметь проблем с церковью.
После путешествия, которое длилось 2 месяца, 21 ноября эти люди оказались в Северной Америке. Это были 74-летний мужчина и 28-летняя женщина. Они создали колонию и назвали эту часть земли Новой Англией.

Forest fires are catastrophic and can bring about huge disasters if not contained and extinguished. While some forest fires are caused by natural factors, the biggest cause of such fires are man-related actions. People from all walks of life can help contribute to the prevention of forest fires by being more responsible in their actions.
Form a small group or join a local team that cleans leaves and any plant growth on the soil bed of thick forests. This helps to remove dry brush that can fuel a fire in the forest.
Be careful when smoking cigarettes in the forest. Extinguish them completely and do not throw butts near trees or dry leaves. .Park your vehicles away from the trees and dry areas of the forest. Any fluid or fuel leakage from the cars can help start a fire.  Completely extinguish your camp fire if you have been camping in the forest. Pour water in the burning twigs for added safety. Also avoid using candles and matches inside your tent. Keep combustible liquids and alcohol inside tightly sealed containers.
