We use the Present Perfect Simple Tense for
• Something that started in the past and has continued until now.
Pam has studied in this school for 8 years.
• Something that happened in the past but we don’t say exactly when (or the time is not important)
Biologists have found new marine species.
• Something that happened in the past and has a result that effects the present.
Everyday diet and exercise have helped her to lose her weight.
• Actions that have just finished
I have just written my project.
• Experience and achievements
She has been to many countries.
Common time expressions used with the Present Perfect Simple: already, just, ever, never, since, for, recently, so far, once, twice, three times, until now, yet.
After school I go home and have dinner. After a short rest, I start doing my homework and then I am free. I listen to music, meet my friends. Sometimes I play computer games or watch TV. Sometimes I do some work about the house: tidy my room, vacuum the carpet, wash the dishes, go shopping, take the rubbish out and so on. I go to bed at half past ten.
