Most people don’t often stop to think about the men who collect the garbage. But taking away a city’s garbage is a big job.

Every day truckloads and trainloads of food come into a big city. Food comes to people’s homes in many kinds of containers – in glass jars and bottles, cans, boxes, plastic wraps, and paper bags. We throw away most of these containers after they are emptied.

Fresh fruit are wrapped in their own skins (кожица). Sometimes we can eat the skin, but often vegetable and fruit skin and eggshells are thrown away. Most garbage is made of the things which we can’t eat or use. In some cities the garbage is collected and is taken outside.

In other cities the food parts of the garbage are put in special places where they slowly change into something called humus (перегной, чернозем).The men who have to worry about what to do with garbage are looking for better ways to use it.

and I'll do some work about the house. At about eleven o’clock we'll go to bed.
