seeing the world on a budget
i said at the start of the year that one of my resolutions was to travel more; after spending so much time and money on furniture for the flat last year, i was on a tight budget. i’m not the one to drop a load of money on anything, i’m just used to being economical – and this absolutely applies to travelling too. i’ve become almost too good at going to different places on a budget, so i thought i’d share some tips and tricks i’ve picked up lately.
with so many budget airlines offering flights to different locations, it’s pretty easy to find cheap travel these days. i rarely pay more than £100 for two returns, and that is thanks to the wonders of easyjet and ryanair. if you haven’t flown with a budget airline before, you may be a little worried about the experience, but i can’t really fault it – i’ve never had any problems (er, touch just keep in mind that you get what you pay for.
i have the easyjet app on my phone, and whenever i fancy another little getaway, i search the locations. we’re lucky as glasgow airport offers so many affordable flights, and it’s quite nearby, so it’s all pretty effortless.
the easyjet website is actually better as you can search by “3 week view” so you can pick and choose the most affordable dates to fly on. i also recommend checking airports around you. sometimes it turns out a cheaper way to get a train and then a flight.
i also recommend jet2, especially if you live in one of their locations, and klm are sometimes affordable. your best bet is to use skyscanner to search for the cheapest flights in the time you want to go. although, i find it best to search different locations over different dates, if you’re open to wherever/whenever you go.
