John Ruggles liked anything which moved quickly on wheels. He knew the make of almost every car on the roads and most of his free time he spent hanging around garages and filling stations. We also went to the large Car Park where drivers sometimes gave interesting information on the different cars in the park.
The Car Park was a very interesting place and when the day of adventure came, John had no difficulty to decide where to begin. It was early when he arrived There were no tourists about, no cars at all except one in which sat a large dog which showed such fine teeth as John came near that he retreated quickly to a seat under the Castle walls. From time to time he looked at the sky. He hoped it wasn't going to rain. The clock of the church struck ten and a few cars began to arrive. Soon a large cat came in. John put both his hands into his pockets and stood looking at the car at a distance. A tall young man followed by a lady got out. John heard the young man calling him. He ran up to the man and the man gave him a coin and asked him to look after the car.
