76. How do we use each form?
We use the past simple for:
• actions which started and finished in the past.
She left an hour ago
• actions which happened one after the other in the
past. He stood up, got his bog and left the room
We use the past continuous for:
• actions which were happening at a specific time in
the past. He was sleeping at 7 o'dock last night
• two actions which were happening at the same time
in the past. She was cooking while he was working
an action which was happening in the past when
another action interrupted it. The action in progress is
in the past continuous. The action which interrupted
the action in progress is in the past simple. She was
doing her homework when the phone rong

1. Mary went to the cinema with some of her friends.
/Мэри пошла в кино с несколькими своими друзьями/, при переводе иногда пропускается местоимение - Мэри пошла в кино со своими друзьями.
2. Jane doesn't have any friends.
/У Джейн нет друзей /совсем, никаких/.
3. Have you got any brothers or sisters?
{А здесь - внимание: в вопросительных предложениях употребляется местоимение "any", НО,  если мы задаем вопрос и ожидаем на него положительный ответ, т.е.  ответ "да", то употребляется местоимение "some", например:
Would You  like some biscuits?
4. Here is some food for cat.
5. I don't want any presnts for my birthday.
6. I'm hungry - I'll have some sandwiches.
7. Do You know any famous people?
8. My little brother already knows some words in English.

My ideal state is situated in a warm part of the world. It is somewhere in the south. It is on the coast of the sea. People in my state are friendly and polite. They are happy, because they do not have serious problems. People in my state are healthy as there are a lot of skilled doctors. There are also many shops and supermarkets in my state so you can buy what you want. My state is very cultural. We have theatres, museums, art galleries and cinemas. The government of my state is clever and honest. Our president is close to the people, he tries to help everybody. It is not difficult as my state is not large. Many tourists come to visit our place because the state is really beautiful. our nature is amazing, it impresses all of the tourists. My state is rich, people do not have problems with work. Come and see us!
