The way I'd like to improve the system of education
People say there is no such thing as an ideal system of education, but I think I know what could be done in order to improve our system.
First of all, in my opinion there should not be a uniform school starting age. All kids are different: some are ready to start school when they are 6 and some others need more time to get ready. As for school leaving age, I think the mimimum should be 18, but the last stage of education should include subjects that will help school students to gain some skills and qualifications.
The most important thing that needs to be changed is that children should be taught not just academic subjects, but also how to become healthy, contented people, how to take care of a house and how to manage their money.
In fact, I like our school curriculum, the only thing I'd like to change is to introduce more PE lessons — I think we should have a PE lesson five times a week and these should be about playing all sorts of active games.
There shouldn't be any lessons in the afternoon. This will be time for after-school clubs and activities. Every child should try as many different activities as possible — this will help him or her to discover his or her talents and abilities.
We might not like the idea of taking tests and exams, but I think they are important because they help to assess each student's level at the beginning of course and at the end of course. But there is an important thing: students should not be compared with other students! I believe such comparison is totally wrong as it can demoralize students.
