Правило очень простое:

a/an - употребляем только с ИСЧИСЛЯЕМЫМИ существительными в ЕДИНСТВЕННОМ числе (артикль А ставим перед существительными, которые начинаются на согласный звук, а AN перед теми, которые на гласный звук)

some - употребляем с МНОЖЕСТВЕННЫМ числом существительных или с НЕИСЧИСЛЯЕМЫМИ существительными.

some apples (мн. число)
a carrot (ед. ч. , исчисляемое, начинается на согл. звук)
some burgers (мн. число)
some coffee (кофе - неисчисляемое)
an egg (ед. число, начинается на гл. звук)
some milk (молоко - неисчисляемое)
an orange (ед. число, начиинается на гл. звук)
some pizzas (мн. число)
some honey (мёд - неисчисляемое)
a leek (ед. число, начинается на согл. звук)
some butter (масло - неисчисляемое)
