Tasmania is ап island in the south of Australia. It is the smallest state of Australia. Il’s the same size as England. The state owes its name to the Dutch navigator-explorer Abel Janszon Tasman, who in 1642 became the first European to discover the island. Until 1856, however, the island was known as Van Diemen’s Land. This state also differs from the other Australian states. There are no deserts in Tasmania. It often rains, both in winter and summer. Only half a million people live in Tasmania, and a large number of the island is still covered with beautiful wild forests. These forests are full of wonderful flowers and interesting animals. The island of Tasmania contains some of the most spectacular mountains, lakes, and coastal sceneries in the country, and much of its land is protected in national parks and reserves. You can also find here a lot of pure, remote and desolate beaches. Among them Hazard beach, Ray of Fires and Binalong Bay. You can also enjoy the nature at Freycinet National Park, spectacular place with pure white beaches and dry eucalypt forest. 9
