History Jokes
His name was Fleming, and he was a poor Scottish farmer. One day, while trying to make a living for his family, he heard a cry for help coming from a nearby boy. He dropped his tools and ran to the boy. There, mired to his waist in black muck, was a terrified boy, screaming and struggling to free himself. Farmer Fleming saved the boy from what could have been a slow and terrifying death.
The next day, a fancy carriage pulled up to the Scotsman's place. An elegantly dressed nobleman stepped out and introduced himself as the father of the boy farmer Fleming had saved.
"I want to repay you", said the nobleman. "You saved my son's life". "No, I can't accept payment for what I did", the Scottish farmer replied, waving off the offer. At that moment, the farmer's own son came to the door of the family hovel. "Is that your son?" the nobleman asked. "Yes", the farmer replied proudly. "I'll make you a deal. Let me take him and give him a good education. If the fellow is anything like his father, he'll grow to a man you can be proud of.
And that he did. In time, farmer Fleming's son graduated from St. Mary's Hospital Medical School in London, and went on to become known throughout the world as the noted Sir Alexander Fleming, the discoverer of Penicillin.
Years afterward, the nobleman's son was close to death from pneumonia. What saved him?

THE LEANING TOWER SYUYUMBIKE IN KAZAN

Syuyumbike tower is located on the territory of the Kazan Kremlin complex and is one of the main attractions of the city of Kazan.

Its popularity is due to the interesting history and legends, connected with it, as well as the fact that it is falling. The 58-metre tower is often called the architectural symbol of not only the capital but of the whole of Tatarstan. It was built in the seventeenth century. Like the famous leaning tower of Pisa the Syuyumbike tower is also a so-called "falling" tower, and the deviation from the vertical axis is about 2 meters. (The Syuyumbike tower is two metres higher than the tower of Pisa in Italy).

Syuyumbike is a female name and it means "beloved Queen" of the people of Kazan in the 16th century. Indeed, Syuyumbike was a beautiful and noble educated woman, the widow of the Khan, ruined in the struggle for the throne. According to one of the legends it was she who ordered to build this tower in the memory of her beloved husband. According to another legend she went upstairs of the tower and threw herself from the top on the ground and died. Since then, the tower was called after her.
