I. Grammar.
a) Выпишите глагол-сказуемое и определите его видо - временную форму. Переведите предложения на русский язык.

b) Поставьте глаголы, стоящие в скобках, в требуемом по смыслу времени. Переведите предложения на русский язык.

1.We already (to study) three English tenses.
2.Yesterday at one o’clock we (to have) lunch at the canteen.
3.A lot of questions (to discuss) at the last lesson.
4.My sister (not to work) on Sunday.
5.Where you usually (to prepare) your homework.

c) Переведите предложения на английский язык.
1.Завтра с 5 до 6 я играю в теннис в парке.
2.Вы кончили свою работу? – Да, я кончил ее вчера.
3.Я никогда не был в Англии.
4.Почтальон приносит почту утром.
5.Когда пришел мой друг, я еще не кончил завтракать.

II. Work with the text.
Прочитайте и переведите текст «Розеттский камень» (Rosetta Stone). Найдите в нем наречия, отвечающие на во когда?), where (где?), how (как?), to what extent (в какой степени?). Запишите их.

Some great discoveries are made accidentally. In Egypt, in 1799 a French officer was walking slowly and saw a highly unusual stone which was partially buried in the mud. There were three inscriptions on the stone that was rather flat. The first one was in ancient Egyptian, the second one in the later Egyptian language. The third was in Greek. The message was identically stated in the three languages. The easily readable Greek gave the scholars the needed key. The message was understood and the text in ancient Egyptian was translated. Today, the historically important Rosetta Stone is in the British Museum of London and it is permanently displayed there.
