и ещё когда у вас в слове рядом стоит одна гласная и одна согласная происходит удвоение согласной
потом когда уже есть одна гласная и две согласные например слово small то удвоение не происходит
когда например стоит в конце слово гласная буква y например как слова happy счастливый, happier счастливее, happiest сам. счастл.
а ещё есть слова исключения
