For many years mankind has been wondering whether there is life on other planets and what these planets are. A huge amounts of money are spent on this sphere whereas some people claim that our native planet need urgent help and it would be better to spend money here.
Talking about myself, i am not keen on scientific topic and do not admit the idea of investing billions in the space exploration. I think we had better spent them to solve problems of the contemporary world such as hunger, poverty, ecological issues.
It was said that we should learn more about space due to the danger it can bring to us, for example, a meteorite. From this point of view i agree, we should develop this branch of science but it's unnecessary to make it a problem number 1.
In my opinion, helping children in Africa is more important than building rockets, isn't it? We should help our planet now and here or it will be late to save the earth.
Dear teachers, I would like to speak on the problem of modern technology and its impact on our life. This topic has always been close to me, as I'm a young man and I can't imagine myself without all these new gadgets, tools and machinery around me. To begin with, I would like to point out that there are two absolutely different points of view on this problem. Some people think that modern man has become lazy and spoiled by all the new machinery doing everything for him, but I can't agree with this statement. As for me, it's a costant will of a man that has made us to live in a better world today. People spent decades, sometimes all their lifes to explore or to invent something to help others to survive, to keep their lifes or just to lighten their burden. Who would say that one can live now in a city without a cooker, a vacuum cleaner or a fridge? What are you going to do without a PC or a cell phone nowadays? Can you imagine your life without it? No, and no once again. But all this modern technology let us have more spare time to think about other problems that everyday life puts before us. Let's take a cell phone, for instance. As for me, it has become of vital importance to me: it helps me to communicate with friends and my family, if I need help in life-threatening emergency - I can just click and my rescue comes; I can use it to get information in the Internet and also to prepare for my school lessons. On the other hand, we can't underestimate the influence of modern machinery and technological achievements on us and on the environment. New technology has led to creating weapons of mass destruction; the great use of natural resources is damaging the environment. Even my cell phone is constantly spreading put raids that are invisible to the eye, but are harmful for any human being around me. So, we can only imagine what impact a cell phone has, if each of us keeps it in a poket and is surrounded by five-ten people. In conclusion, I ought to say, that everything we do is double-sided, but it's in our power to reduce the bad impact of any achievement and exploration we do, as we should always keep in mind, that we must save a better world for our children. And as we can't stop our progress, we should benefit from it resposibly.
