Palace Bridge across the Neva river can really be called the most romantic of all St. Petersburg's bridges. It is one of the more than ten drawbridges of the city. The bridge is 102 years old. On December 23, 1916 the first carriage passed through the bridge. In 1997, the bridge was decorated with night illumination, which fascinates residents and visitors with its beauty in the dark. Today, the cast-iron drawbridge is a connection of Vasilievsky Island with the Central city sights such as the Admiralty and the Winter Palace. The architect of the Palace Bridge was A.P. Pshenitsky.
The giant structure consists of 5 spans and is stunning in its size: the total length is 260.1 metres, width — 27.7 metres. The unique adjustable mechanism lifts 700-ton spans up over the Neva. The last reconstruction of the bridge took place in 2013. Today, thousands of people pass over the bridge. Tourists come here to take pictures against the background of the famous Peter and Paul Fortress or the Hermitage. During festive events, film festivals, the drawbridge wings serve as a huge screen for film shows. The Palace Bridge is drawn twice a day. Night view of the bridge on the background of the bell tower of the Peter and Paul fortress is the hallmark of St. Petersburg. The bridge opening time is from 01:25 to 02:50 and from 03:10 to 04:55.

1) Of course it depends on the aim of our journey.
2). The most comfortable means of travelling is the plane but the most convenient one is your own car.
3) To travel by sea is nice in good weather if you don't feel seasick or there is no storm at sea and it is terrible if you get caught by a storm and you are seasick. As for the car, when you drive for a long time your feet get too tired, as for the aircraft, its noise and flying high is bad for ears because of changing preassure.
4) Good friends and fine weather can make our journey more pleasant.
5) Bad weather or pessimistic people can spoil the impression of our trip.
6) It was a trip to Egypt.
7) The most pleasant one was the trip to Sochi with my family by car.
8) I think there will appear cars-transformers and they'll be able to drive, to fly or to sail when it's necessary.
9) I prefer to travel by car because for me it is the most convenient way of travelling.
