1. Thomas had his car repairing by a mechanic. 2. I don’t mind cleaning, but I’d like having someone to help with the rest of the housework especially in the kitchen. 3. I’m not very good at cooking. But I love to look after our daughter Danielle. 4. The policeman made the suspect lying on the ground. 5. Maria got Ed washing the pipettes. 6. She always has her car fixing by the same mechanic. 7. Jane got her book publishing by a subsidiary publisher. 8. We have to help Marie findings her keys.
The Man and his Friend
A long time ago a man met an old friend on the road home. So the
man invited his friend home to dinner.
This happened in the winter and it was
very cold. As they
were walking home the man blew on his hands.
"Why are you doing that?" asked his friend. "To warm
my
hands," the man answered.
When the two men
got home, they sat down to eat some
soup. The man picked up his spoon and blew on the soup. "Why are
you doing that?" asked his friend for the second time that day. "To
make the soup colder
, it is too hot to eat, " the man
answered.
His friend got to his feet and walked to the door. "I have seen
enough. I cannot be friends with a man who can blow hot and cold in
the same breath.
