Altyn-Emel national park is one of the most beautiful national parks in Kazakhstan. This park was created in 1996 with the purpose of preserving a unique natural area, archaeological, historical and cultural monuments, rare and endangered species of plants and animals, and to develop ecological tourism. The area of the park includes mountain ranges, volcanic rocks and singing sand dunes. The flora of the park numbers about 1800 plant species, with 21 species included in the Red Book of Kazakhstan. The fauna of the park numbers 393 species. The park is home to 78 species of mammals, 260 species of birds, 25 species of reptiles, 4 species of amphibians, 26 species of fish. 56 species of animals living in the park are included in the Red Book of Kazakhstan. It is, for example, one of the few places on earth where you can see Persian gazelle and wild donkeys in their natural habitat. The national park carries an experiment on bringing back into life the lost species of Przewalski horse. The most famous place of the park is the "Singing Dune" which is 1.5 kilometers long and up to 130 meters high. It is famous for the noises it produces.
Altyn-Emel national park contains a huge variety of rare plants and animals.
