There are about 7 billion people in the world. They all buy things, use them and then throw them away. In London, every person throws away 6 kilograms of rubbish every week. In Tokyo — 7 kilograms. In Los Angeles the figure is 21 kilograms. What is important to know is that people can recycle and use again most of what they throw away.
People all over the world drink a lot of bottled water. Nowadays, there are companies which recycle plastic bottles into sweaters. Each sweater uses 27 plastic bottles. We’ve learned to turn old glass1 bottles into fiberglass. You can send thousands of phone calls at once along one thin glass fiber.
