Joanne Rowling
Joanne Rowling is one of the most famous British writers. People can read her books about Harry Potter in many languages. She was born on the 31-st of July 1965 in Bristol, England. When she was a child, her dream was to be a writer. When she was six, she wrote her first book about a rabbit. She was a clever student at school, and her favourite school subjects were English and foreign languages. After university she worked as a secretary and then went to Portugal to teach English. She was very busy in the afternoon and in the evening, so she had some free time in the morning to write her books.
Joanna came back to Britain and lived in Edinburgh, Scotland. In 1990 she had an idea about her new book about a young magician – Harry Potter. Her first book was a great success. Now there are seven Harry Potter books.
