1. A group of university students from Brazil have been given the job of discovering and locating all the waterfalls in their country. It is not easy because very often the maps are not detailed. The students have to remain in water for long
periods of time. Every day they cover a distance of 35 to 40 kilometers through the jungle, each carrying 40 kilos of equipment.
2. For many years now, mail-order shopping has served the needs of a certain kind of customers. Everything they order from a catalogue is delivered to their door. Now, though, e-mail shopping on the Internet has opened up even more opportunities for this kind of shopping.
3. Another generation of computer fans has arrived. They are neither spotty schoolchildren nor intellectual professors, but pensioners who are learning computing with much enthusiasm. It is particularly interesting for people suffering from arthritis as computers offer a way of writing nice clear letters. Now pensioners have discovered the Internet and at the moment they make up the fastest growing membership.
4. Shopping centres are full of all kinds of stores. They are like small, self-contained towns where you can find everything you want. In a large centre, shoppers can find everything they need without having to go anywhere else. They can leave their cars in the shopping centre car park and buy everything in a covered complex, protected from the heat, cold or rain.
5. Not many people know that, back in the fifties, computers were very big, and also very slow. They took up complete floors of a building, and were less powerful, and much slower than any of today’s compact portable computers. At first, the data they had to process and record was fed in on punched-out paper; later magnetic tape was used, but both systems were completely inconvenient.
6. Potholing is a dull name for a most interesting and adventurous sport. Deep underground, on the tracks of primitive men and strange animals who have adapted to life without light, finding unusual landscapes and underground lakes, the potholer lives an exciting adventure. You mustn’t forget, though, that it can be quite dangerous. Without the proper equipment you can fall, get injured or lost.
7. Substantial remains of an octagonal Roman bath house, probably reused as a Christian baptistry, have been uncovered during a student training excavation near Faversham in Kent. The central cold plunge pool was five metres across, and stood within a structure which also had under floor heating and hot pools, probably originally under a domed roof.
Once upon a time there lived a small dinosaur. He was very kind and clever dinosaur. His name was Livi . He lived in a castle whith his family . But one night a big stone falled to the Livis garden. The stone was red and very hot . Livi went in to the garden and saw someone strange. Someone was moving ! Livi came closer . And he saw that someone was extraterrestrial ! Livi said " Hello , what is your name ? " to extraterrestrial . Extraterrestrial run away ! After this noone saw an extraterrestrial . But Livi new that he came to the garden every night and searched for stone that some night fell to Livis garden.
I spent my summer in a camp which is situated in Moscow. I'd like to tell you a little bit about it. Firstly, when I came to my room, I was shocked, because it was decorated so brilliant and I really didn't have a desire to go somewhere else. After an hour my roommate came. We talked about our schools and found that we had a lot in common. This girl also liked to play volleyball like me and we decide to play it somewhere. We found such a wonderful place in the park near our camp, where we can play. After that we played there everyday. The food in our camp was really delicious. We've never missed dinner, because the dessert was amazing. In the camp we should go to bed in ten o'clock, but when the keeper turns the light off we chat and laughing but not too loud, because she can hear us. We watch a lot of movies there and read some books. So I think that I spent the time in the camp very good.
Я провела лето в лагере, который находится в Москве. Я хочу немножко рассказать Вам об этом. Изначально,когда я пришла в свою комнату, я была шокирована, потому что она была прекрасно обставлена и у меня действительно не было никакго желания идти куда-либо еще. Через час пришла моя соседка по комнате. Мы поговорили о наших школах и обнаружили, что у нас много общего. Эта девочка также как и я любит играть в волейбол и мы решили где-нибудь поиграть в него. Мы нашли отличное место в парке неподалеку от нашего лагеря, где мы могли поиграть. Потом мы играли там каждый день. Еда в нашем лагере была действительно вкусной. Мы никогда не пропускали обед, потому что десерт был восхитительным. В лагере нам нужно было ложиться в кровать в 10 вечера, но когда смотрительница выключала свет, мы болтали и смеялись, но не очень громко, потому что она могла нас услышать. Мы посмотрели много фильмов и прочитали некоторые книги. Так что я считаю, что я провела время в лагере очень хорошо.
