a. it is common practice to learn one or two most widely spread foreign languages school or college. the recent experience of the gathering group from herlin shows that two is not the limit. some of its members can speak than ten languages quite easily! special attention is paid to less common world languages like hindl or thal.

b. most people find learning a language a dit'ticult task because a person needs to memorize at least ten thousand words and a lot of grammar rules to sound native. on the other hand, such memory training saves a man's mental abilities. for example, speaking two languages can delay mental illnesses by five years. those who speak four languages have another nine years of sound mind.

c. another common belief is that learning a language can be only successful in the early or school age. because of this reason most people hesitate to take a language course but not polyglot gathering members. the bigger part of the group is adults who have mastered about twenty languages. they are sure that people do not lose the ability to learn successfully as they age.

d. inside polyglot gathering they even compete in the number of tongues in use. ambitions are the first motive to become a polyglot. another reason is the need to communicate when travelling around the world on business or for pleasure. but most polyglot gathering members call having different life memories and building friendships their main motive.

e. besides, they are sure that every new language allows a person to try a new identity. psychologists say that the languages people speak influence their behaviour and cause different associations. for example, french is considered romantic, and italian is considered passionate. it proves the fact that a language exists within civilized traditions and customs.

f. besides simple "diving deep" in a foreign culture polyglot gathering moderators have other secrets to pick up languages. they recommend marking and repeating specific language features and details. they offer special classes on phonetics parody, every student takes the role of an actor and feels free to copy foreign sounds no matter how strange they seem.

g. another effective technique the polyglots use is frequent and regular practice. speaking a foreign language at least fifteen minutes four times a day is ideal. people who are too busy with work or simply tired to have enough exercise can listen to a foreign song or a dialogue. such daily training proved to be highly effective with the polyglot gathering
