Read the situation and make notes which will help you to write the letter. a local newspaper has recently published a series of articles about young people. in most of the articles, young people are described as irresponsible, rude and looking only for cheap entertainment. these opinions are mainly based on a few recent incidents in the local discotheque. you're going to write a letter to the editor expressing your disapproval not only with the editorial policy of treating the topic, but also whith the perception of young people. make notes which will help you to write the letter : -reason(s) for writing your opinion; -your arguments + suggestions; -opposing views & your counterarguments; -closing remarks.
I am writing to you to express my complete disagreement with some publications in your newspaper about the youth of our city in particular and your relationship to the youth in general.
For example, you can't blame all the youth of the country due to some facts that several young men and girls behaved unworthily at the disco. Yes, I agree, in our country, as in any other country there are some boys and girls who don't want to study or work, they are really irresponsible, coarse and, only looking for cheap entertainment. But their number is so small!
There is another youth. Why don't you write about other young men and women? Young people cannot live in isolation. They are looking for dialogues, want to have fun and a good time. That's why the majority of young people are trying to make friends and join the big companies in various youth groups. Some of these groups are engaged in research, compose and perform music, go to the mountains, explore and study the past of our planet and take care of veterans. This is great!
But there are youth groups which (that) choose to use alcohol and drugs, they are promoting hatred, violence and racial hostility. These are bad groups. It is very difficult for some young people to choose the purpose in their lives because they have lack life experience. I will never enter into the group that ruins my life and health.
My friends and I, too, spend much time together: we are engaged in sports, enjoy physics and electronics, and our lives are full and interesting. We want you to change your opinion about young people, and write series of good and significant articles about our life and hobbies.
We hope that you can settle this matter to our satisfaction.

Я пишу вам, чтобы выразить свое абсолютное несогласие с публикациями в вашей газете о молодежи нашего города в частности и вашем отношении к молодежи вообще.
Например, вы не можете осуждать всю молодежь страны из-за того, что несколько молодых людей и девушек вели себя недостойно на дискотеке. Да, я согласен, в нашей стране, как и в любой другой стране, есть юноши и девушки, которые не хотят учиться или работать, они действительно безответственные, грубые и ищут только дешевыx развлечений. Но их очень немного!
Есть другая молодежь. Почему вы не пишете о других юношах и девушках? Молодежь не может жить в одиночестве. Они ищут общения, хотят веселиться и хорошо проводить время. Вот почему большинство молодых людей стараются дружить большими компаниями и вступать в разные молодежные группы. Некоторые такие группы занимаются научными исследованиями, сочиняют и исполняют музыкальные произведения, ходят в горы, исследуют и изучают нашей планеты, заботятся о ветеранах. Это здорово!
Но есть такие молодежные группы, которые предпочитают употреблять алкоголь и наркотики, они пропагандируют ненависть, насилие и расовую неприязнь. Это плохие группы. Молодым людям очень трудно сделать выбор, потому что у них не хватает жизненного опыта. Я никогда не вступлю в группу, которая испортит мне жизнь и здоровье.
Мои друзья и я тоже проводим время вместе: мы занимаемся спортом, увлекаемся физикой и электроникой, живем полноценной и интересной жизнью. Нам очень хочется, чтобы вы изменили свое мнение о нас, написали серию добрых и значимых статей о нашей жизни и увлечениях.
