Environmental problems are getting more and more attention in the media, and that's a good sign. Raising awareness of ecological issues can help people stop and think about the Earth — our only home. Have we gone past the point of no return? Have we done too much damage to the planet? Probably not — or not yet. People and governments should join the effort and try to repair at least some of the damage we've done to the environment.
Want to go green? Here are some tips for being environmentally friendly:
1. Recycle your waste or utilize it properly. It saves natural resources. The easiest material to recycle is waste cardboard and paper. Plastic is a bit different — be sure to check the type of plastic before giving it for recycling. Glass and metallic things can be remade into something new. Be careful — batteries can pollute soil and water with lots of harmful substances if not utilized in the right way.
2. Try to buy goods with less packaging or use eco-friendly packaging, paper or bioplastic, for example. It can help you reduce the amount of plastic bags we use on a daily basis. If a plastic bag is necessary, try to reuse it.
3. Donate or sell things you don’t need anymore instead of throwing them to waste. These things can help people in need.
4. Don't smoke. Smoking contributes to air pollution and takes its toll on your health.
The responsibility for the future lies with every one of us. Together we can make the city we live in a better place!
