hi, anyone who’s out there. i really like surfing and sailing. i live with my family in the city but we go to the coast at weekends if my dad isn’t too busy with work. we’ve got a small boat but my parents don’t let me sail it on my own, which is ridiculous ’cause i’m 18! i’ve got a younger brother matt, but he doesn’t really like outdoor stuff much – he can’t even swim. he prefers to read books and science magazines. my mum thinks he’s a genius because he got three as on his last school report card. if you like sailing and live in the southampton area, send me an email. ciao. tom.

‘my job is getting me down, my children don’t listen to ’ sounds familiar? well don’t just sit there and complain about it. there are plenty of people in a similar situation. why not reach out and share your feelings with a stranger? we all need a shoulder to cry on and often, we’re not getting it at home. so, why delay? there’s probably someone waiting to share your load at the other end of your keyboard right now. for a small fee, friends inc will put you in touch with the right person. it’s good to talk.

my name’s joan. i’m writing because it seems to me our lives are so similar. i don’t get out much either because i’m looking after my granddad. he’s very old and sweet but it can be quite difficult sometimes looking after him all on my own. like you, i do all the meals and shopping. in the evenings, i read him a story from one of his thousands of books. his eyesight has long gone but his mind is still there. in my free time, i love painting and looking at the stars. i use my granddad’s telescope to paint pictures of the moon. i’m very pleased with the results. it takes a lot of time and patience but it’s worth it in the end.

i’m hoping that someone out there can help us. we’re desperate to make contact with an old schoolmate. his name’s peter marshall and he comes from bournemouth. he studied anthropology at cardiff uni and graduated in ’98. his family used to live in the bournemouth area but they died a couple of years ago. no one has heard from pete since then. the last thing we heard he was going to tunisia. we’re getting married soon and the wedding wouldn’t be the same without him. if you think you know pete and where he is, please let him have our contact details. there is a sizeable reward for anyone who can help us to make our special day complete.
