Jerald began to make up stories at the age of 10, but his first real book appeared 12 years later. Durrel was a naturalist and needed money for his own zoo, so he took up writing. His most well-known book is “My Family and Other Animals” where he depicted his life on Corfu with his family and many wonderful animals.
