с домашкой по английскому плз Lesson 5 The Sverdlovsk Railway Line
Task 1 Most graduators from the college are going to work on the Sverdlovsk
Railway Line
The Sverdlovsk Main Railway Line
The Sverdlovsk
Railway
line
is
a
subsidiary
of
the Russian
Railways headquartered in Yekaterinburg. In 2003 the Sverdlovsk Railway, one of
the most lengthy railways in the Russian Federation, marked the 125th
anniversary. The line dates from the late 19th century. The Perm–Yekaterinburg
line was opened in 1879, followed by the Yekaterinburg–Tyumen line six years
later. After the completion of the Yekaterinburg–Chelyabinsk and Perm–Vyatka–
Kotlas lines in 1900, the Ural Railway network was renamed the Perm Railway.
Its headquarters were in Perm. Since 1934 it is known as the Sverdlovsk Railway.
The Sverdlovsk railway passes through three time
zones and four soil-climatic zones. It serves Perm Krai, Sverdlovsk and Tyumen
Oblasts and the Khanty-Mansi and Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Districts. It is
used by over 12,000 enterprises, accounting for 10% of Russia’s total rail network
loading volume, including vital goods such as oil, nonferrous metals, timber and
construction materials. It is a vital part of the Trans-Siberian Railway and one of
the busiest railway networks in Russia. The Yekaterinburg classification yard is
one of the largest in Europe.
The full functioning main railway line length is over 7000 km. (7,153 km) The
main railway line has extended for a distance of about 15 thousand km from the
West to the East, while to the North its lines cross the Polar Circle.
The traffic is automatically controlled over more than 70 percent of the railway
length and the semiautomatic blocking is employed over approximately 20 percent
of the railway length. Many sections (nearly 2 thousand km) are equipped with
the centralized traffic control. The railway line possesses a multi-computer
organization, thus making the basic production and management computer
controlled.

Russia is one of the largest countries in the world. It occupies a big part of dry land. The country is known as a Legend Empire, because it has been suffering from foreign invasion and dominance by outsiders from times immemorial, but still strong and alive. The country divided by Ural mountain range in two big parts is full of controversies. People who live close to Europe are not the same with Russians from the other side of the Ural. Russia is rich in such natural treasures as coal, oil, nickel, copper, natural gas and even diamonds. The oversize of the territory determines a big variety of climates: from arctic to subtropical one. In the centre of the country there is a temperate climate. One of the main sources of pride in Russia is unique nature from East to West. The country is rich in numerous lakes, rivers and woods.
