The protagonist of the film is a poor boy, Charlie Bucket, who lives in a small shack with his parents, two grandfathers and two grandmothers. Charlie's father is fired from his job, and the family is in dire straits. In the same city is the Willy Wonka chocolate factory, where Charlie's grandfather Joe Bucket used to work. After rivals stole the tycoon's chocolate secrets, he fired all the workers. Since then, no one has seen people enter or leave the factory. Only trucks delivering chocolate cross the factory gate line. But one day smoke came out of the pipes. It means that someone worked there, but for everyone it remained a secret what kind of workers they were. One interesting day, Mr. Wonka put 5 gold tickets in the same number of chocolate bars and announced that those children who find tickets will have the opportunity to enter the factory. A real excitement begins in the world. The first ticket is found by the boy August Gloop, who is overweight, eats a lot of chocolate and lives in Düsseldorf. The second ticket goes to Veruca Salt, the spoiled daughter of a Buckinghamshire multimillionaire. The third ticket goes to a very determined and proud girl Violet Beauregard from Atlanta, and the fourth is found by an enthusiastic gamer Mike Teavee, a prodigy from Denver who was able to figure out which chocolate bar will be with the golden ticket. The fifth ticket, found by a boy from Russia, turns out to be fake. Charlie receives the first chocolate bar as a birthday present from his parents, and buys the second with the money he received from his grandfather. But none of the chocolate bars has a ticket. On the street, a boy finds a 10 dollar bill and buys a third chocolate bar, which contains the last golden ticket. On Tuesday February 1 at 10 am Charlie, his grandfather Joe, the first four ticket finders and their parents arrive at the factory. First, a puppet show is shown for them, and then Mr. Wonka himself comes out to them. First, he takes his guests to the Chocolate Shop, where absolutely everything was edible, but he warns them not to lose their heads. Suddenly Veruca Salt noticed a strange little man, then several more of the same appeared. It turned out that these were the same mysterious workers. These were the umpa-lumpas that Willy Wonka accidentally found while traveling in Lumpalandia - an unknown land of jungles and dangerous predators - in search of exotic tastes for sweets. He invited them to his factory, learning that they live in trees, eat what cannot be called both tasty and disgusting, love cocoa beans and even worship them. In the process of visiting the factory, Charlie's rivals drop out one after another: August Gloop was the first to pay for his greed, who tried to drink chocolate from the Chocolate River. As a result, he fell there just as a drainpipe sank into the river, sucking him in along with the chocolate and sending August to the Fudge Shop, where Mr. Wonka makes the most delicious chocolate-coated strawberry fudge. Later, one of the umpa-loomps took Mrs Gloop there. In the workshop of Inventions, Violetta Beauregard was the next to drop out because she tried a three-course gum lunch, although Willy Wonka had warned her not to. As a result, there was a side effect: the girl swelled up and looked like a giant blueberry. Wonka also warns that if blueberry juice is not squeezed out of Violetta, she may explode. Then Veruca drops out - when in the Nut Shop she decided to take one of the squirrels working there, they threw her into the garbage chute . As a result, only Charlie was left of the children, because "poverty is not a vice"
