The usual meals are breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner. Breakfast is generally a bigger meal than you have on the Continent, though some English people like a “continental” breakfast of rolls and butter and coffee. But the usual English breakfast is porridge or “corn flakes” with milk or cream and sugar, bacon and eggs, marmalade (made from oranges) with buttered toast, and tea or coffee. For a change you can have a boiled egg, cold ham, or perhaps fish.
Russia is one of the largest countries in the world. The vast territory of Russia lies in the eastern part of Europe and the northern part of Asia. Russia is washed by twelve seas and three oceans.
The capital of Russian Federation is Moscow, with the population of about 10 million people.
The land of Russia varies very much from forests to deserts, from high mountains to deep valleys. The main mountain are the Urals, the Caucasus and the Altai. There are a lot of great rivers and deep lakes on its territory. Also there are many animals in Russia.
The continental part of the USA consists of the highland regions and two lowland regions. The highland regions are the Appalachia mountains in the east and the Cordillera in the west.
The principal rivers of the USA are the Mississippi, the longest river in the world (7,330 km) and the Hudson river.
Now I will tell you about one more tradition which appeared in 1985 it is connected with the clown noses.
For one day every two years British people go crazy. People all over the country (even police officers and teachers) wear red noses and do silly things. It’s a Red Nose Day – the day when doing really stupid things can raise a lot of money for charity .Who came up with the idea of this day? It was British comic Lenny Henry who came up with the idea. He thought “Why not have fun and help people at the same time? The symbol of Red Nose Day is the clown nose. Each year a different red nose is sold. Since 1985 there have been all kinds of noses …Buying the red nose is one of the ways of giving money for charity. It costs 1 pound and at least 70 pence go to charity.. Five million noses were sold in the UK in the week before March the 14th, 1999.
