Places of interest in London
The capital of Great Britain, London, is a very big city. More than 8 millionpeople live in it. The oldest part of London is the City. Centuries ago there was a high wall all round the City of London. In 994 people built the first bridge across the Thames. The White Tower in the Tower of London appeared in 1078. Tourists from all parts of the world come to London. There are always crowds of tourists in it. They visit many historical and other places of interest of the city, and the Tower of London is often number one to visit. It is situated on the north bank of the Thames and is an important historical centre of the capital. Once it was a palace, a prison and now there is а museum in the White Tower.
London is also great for shopping. You can find world-famous shops in Oxford Street and other well-known places of London.
