One gloomy day a boy named Lucas went for a walk down the beach with his canoe. He went swimming but it was too cold so he left the canoe for a while. But it was still floating in the water. Another little boy named Jaxon found the canoe and then Lucas came down because it got a bit hotter. Jaxon and Lucas became friends. They were just about to go swimming when something hit the surface. They thought it might have been a dolphin at first but it did not have a curved fin on its back. But it never came back so they went for a walk in the shallows. Every minute or so they would walk a little bit further. Then they walked back to get the canoe. Lucas and Jaxon paddled past the blue line. Just as they passed something hit the canoe. It was circling the canoe and Lucas and Jaxon got scared. They paddled as fast as they could but it was only a little bull shark. Then something appeared in the shallows. It was huge!! It had very sharp teeth. They paddled even harder. They finally got to shore.
Lucas and Jaxon waited for a week until they walked back down the beach again. It was a clear day and there was no shark in sight. Lucas and Jaxon went paddling past the blue line until something hit the boat again. The canoe wobbled and then tipped. They were frightened. Jaxon and Lucas swam as hard as they could. They just reached the blue line until something grabbed Jaxon. He kicked and kicked. He finally broke free. He couldn’t swim very fast and just as he started swimming the shark grabbed him again. It was too late before Lucas could get help Jaxon was dead. Everything was quiet. No one spoke. There was a funeral but still no one spoke until there was a speech. A few weeks later Lucas was back swimming having a ball. Lucas forgot all about it until there was another shark attack. Lucas didn’t go swimming for another few weeks. A new kid named Jack moved next door to Lucas. They became friends. They went paddling every Saturday. Then another new kid moved town named Patrick and he became friends with Lucas and Jack. He went swimming with them every Saturday and played with them all the time. Patrick told Jack and Lucas that he was moving but he never did. Then they walked down the beach for a swim. They swam past the blue line. Suddenly Patrick got grabbed. It was the same shark that killed Jaxon. It was horrible. Jack and Lucas tried to pull Patrick out of the shark’s mouth but it was too late. He was dead. They did not wait for a second. They rushed back to their parents crying.
