I think she and her sisters transplanted the need for said chaos unto their children, the need to be closer than close, to enjoy the at times nightmaric loudness and craziness. Because we all have that, the need for a couple of weekends during the year and a week or two in the summer to be so close, that you do not have any privacy, barely any room to breath. And yet, that's when you are fully alive, and breath more easily than when you're all alone.
