21st Century Gargoyles
Schoolchildren in Oxford (1) WERE INVITED to take part in a very special
competition last year. They (2) WERE ASKED to design new gargoyles
for the famous Bodleian Library. The competition (3) WAS JUDGED last
November, and nine winners (4) WERE CHOSEN. The winning designs
(5) WERE INSPIRED by historical or mythical characters including a
dodo and characters from the Tolkien stories. Then, the new stone
