The Kaliningrad zoo is one of the largest and the oldest zoos in Russia. The zoo was founded in 1896. Kaliningrad got it in 1945 after the German troops. There are more than 312 species of animals, the number of living animals is about 3544. In the zoo you can see several sculptures of animals: a bronze statue of an elk, a stone statue, orangutan and others. The entrance of the zoo is decorated with group sculptural portraits of different animals. Besides, there are a few pre-war buildings and fountain in the territory of the zoo.
