Festival in Italy
The town of Perugia is in a quiet part of Italy called
Umbria. It's 160 kilometres north of the capital, Rome.
Umbria is famous for its grapes. Every autumn thousands
of people travel to Perugia, but they don't go to the town
and eat grapes - they eat chocolate!
The festival is for nine days every October. It's an important celebration of
chocolate and it's called Eurochocolate. They close the streets in the old town
because there are a lot of visitors - 900,000 people from around the world!
There are hundreds of special shops in the streets. People make chocolate sweets
and also cook with chocolate in front of the visitors. Families buy small things in
chocolate. Children get chocolate money, and perhaps a chocolate animal or a fish.

I can’t say that I am fine. I have been here in London for two months now. The weather is nasty here. It has been raining since morning. I think it always rains here in spring. Anyway, it has rained every Saturday and Sunday since we came here two months ago. Besides it was foggy and windy and we stay home almost every weekend. And I felt unhap py and bored. Last Sunday the weather forecast promised fine weather, and we planned a sightseeing tour. But in the morning when I woke up it started pouring and it never stopped. I hope next Sunday it will be fine and sunny and I will be able to see something of London. When I have a chance to see the sights of London I will write a long letter to you.
Love,
Tommy.
